Brand and Press Use

Last revised: 2026-04-26 · Version: 0.1.0-draft

1. Who this is for

This document sets out the terms on which third parties may use PYLON brand assets, the wordmark, the colour system, the type system, the artwork, in editorial, news, review, festival and trade-press contexts. It is also the authoritative reference for anyone receiving the press kit at pylon.video/press.

If your intended use sits outside the editorial, news, review and festival cases, contact [email protected] before publishing. A licence may be available; an unauthorised use is not.

2. The PYLON brand

PYLON is the consumer-facing brand of Apostle Pty Ltd, an Australian proprietary limited company registered in New South Wales ([ABN: TBD]).

The PYLON brand identity comprises:

  • the PYLON wordmark in its current artwork (see commit 90ce9a5 for the v3 wordmark refresh shipped 2026-04-20);
  • the Neon Noir colour palette: paper, gray-300/700/850/900, the magenta accent (var(--colour-paper), var(--colour-gray-*)), and the editorial pure-black canvas;
  • the type system: font-display (display), font-body (body), font-mono (caption / metadata), with the published size and weight scale at packages/design-tokens/;
  • the motion system at the design-token level, directional ease, magenta wash, hairline strokes;
  • supporting motifs: the curatorial gutter, the editorial quotation, the still-frame composition.

The Neon Noir design system is documented in full in the internal design-system memory note (binding for engineering); the press kit at pylon.video/press carries the externally-shareable subset.

3. Permitted uses

You may use the PYLON wordmark, the press kit imagery, and a factually-accurate description of PYLON, without further permission, in the following contexts:

  • Editorial. A news article, opinion piece, review, profile, podcast cover, panel slide, or research paper that discusses PYLON, the films we publish, the filmmakers we work with, or the editorial position we take.
  • News. Reporting on PYLON's launches, hires, partnerships, policy announcements or filings.
  • Reviews. Coverage of titles published on PYLON, including film reviews, festival round-ups, criticism and commentary.
  • Festivals. Festival programmes, juror announcements, retrospective curation, and credits where a PYLON-distributed title screens.
  • Trade press. Industry publications covering AI cinema, short-form distribution, the streaming industry generally.

The permission above is contingent on the use complying with the prohibited-use list in §4 and the visual-integrity rules in §5.

4. Prohibited uses

The following uses are not permitted, and any such use is a breach of this policy:

  • Implying endorsement. Using the wordmark or any PYLON imagery in a manner that suggests PYLON has endorsed, sponsored, reviewed favourably, partnered with, or affiliated with you, your product, your service, your event, or your campaign, when it has not.
  • Modification of the wordmark. Recolouring, deforming, redrawing, animating, framing, embedding, decorating, or otherwise altering the PYLON wordmark.
  • Combining the wordmark with other marks. Lockups, joint marks, or any layout that suggests the PYLON wordmark forms part of a different identity.
  • Use in restricted-content contexts. Adult, hate-speech, political-campaign, election-influence, gambling, weapons, tobacco, or speculative-asset (crypto / NFT) contexts. This list is non-exhaustive.
  • Use in association with content prohibited by our policies. In particular, content prohibited by the AI Disclosure Policy at /legal/ai-disclosure-policy (deepfakes of public figures, CSAM, election misinformation, etc.).
  • Use as a generic. Using "pylon" as a verb, as a generic category name, or in any manner that dilutes the mark.
  • Use suggesting partnership with a competitor. Using the PYLON wordmark in a competitive comparison page, on a feature matrix, or in any "vs." marketing where PYLON has not consented to the comparison.
  • Domain registration. Registering domains, subdomains, social-media handles or app-store listings that incorporate "pylon", "pylonvideo", "pylon-cinema" or similar without written permission.
  • Apparel and merchandise. Using PYLON marks on apparel or merchandise for sale.

If your use sits in a grey area, write to [email protected] and we will respond within 5 business days.

5. Visual-integrity rules

When you do use PYLON brand assets:

  • Use the supplied artwork. Do not redraw or recreate the wordmark. Use the asset files in the press kit.
  • Use approved colourways. The wordmark on light backgrounds uses one approved value; on dark backgrounds, the inverted approved value. No other colourways.
  • Preserve clear space. Maintain a minimum clear space of one cap-height around the wordmark.
  • Minimum size. Do not display the wordmark below 24 pixels high on screen or 0.5 inches in print.
  • Background. The wordmark is intended for solid backgrounds. Use over a busy or photographic background only with a hairline-stroked container plate from the press kit.
  • No drop shadows, glows, or 3D effects.

The press kit ships approved assets in SVG, PNG (transparent and on-canvas), and PDF formats. Use the supplied files; do not re-export or compress beyond the supplied versions.

6. Press kit

The press kit is available at:

https://pylon.video/press

The kit includes:

  • the PYLON wordmark in approved colourways;
  • the Neon Noir palette with hex / OKLCH values;
  • the type system specimen;
  • approved hero stills (where the underlying title's licence permits press redistribution);
  • a 200-word factual description of PYLON;
  • a 60-word factual description for short-form citations;
  • a press-only contact for high-resolution still requests.

The press kit is updated as the brand evolves. Always download the current version rather than re-using a copy from a previous story.

7. Trademark notice

The word PYLON™ is a trademark of Apostle Pty Ltd. Trademark registration is pending; current status [Trademark: TM Pending]. Until registration is granted, the ™ symbol is appropriate; the ® symbol is not. Use:

  • "PYLON™" on first reference in any document;
  • "PYLON" on subsequent references within the same document;
  • "PYLON, a curated AI-cinema service operated by Apostle Pty Ltd" on first reference where the corporate parent is relevant.

In any document where another mark is identified with the ® symbol, identify PYLON™ with the ™ symbol.

8. Right to revoke approval

PYLON reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to revoke any approval granted under this policy on 30 days' written notice. Where the underlying use is in breach of this policy or has caused reputational harm, we may revoke immediately.

Revocation does not require a refund of any fee paid for a licence under §10 unless the licence agreement provides otherwise.

9. Press-only contact

For press queries:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • We acknowledge press queries within 24 hours Mon–Fri, AET.
  • Senior-editorial enquiries are routed to the editorial director.
  • Crisis-comms enquiries are routed to the founder via this same inbox.

When emailing, please identify your publication, your byline name, your deadline (where applicable) and the specific assets you need.

10. Beyond editorial use, licensing

Uses outside the editorial, news, review, festival and trade-press cases require a written licence:

  • Commercial co-marketing (e.g. a partner brand wishes to feature PYLON in their marketing).
  • Sponsorship lockups (e.g. PYLON as a presenting sponsor for a festival event).
  • Event branding (e.g. PYLON-branded festival panel).

Email [email protected] with the proposed use, the audience, the timing, and the duration. We will respond within 10 business days with either a licence proposal, a request for more information, or a decline.

11. Filmmaker brand use

Filmmakers whose titles are published on PYLON may use the "Available on PYLON" badge in their own marketing for the distribution term. The badge artwork and usage rules are in the filmmaker portal under Marketing assets. The Filmmaker Distribution Agreement at /legal/filmmaker-distribution-agreement is the controlling document for filmmaker brand use.

12. Reporting misuse

If you have seen the PYLON wordmark used in a manner that breaches this policy, particularly in a deepfake, scam, or impersonation-of-PYLON context, please report it to [email protected] with the URL or evidence. Reports of impersonation are treated as critical-tier under the Trust & Safety Policy at /legal/trust-and-safety-policy.
